On the Feast in the Roman Rite (Extraordinary Form) of Pope St. Zephyrinus, who upheld the divinity of Christ against heretics who dared call Him a mere prophet; and on the anniversary of the Battle of Manzikert (26 August 1071), in which Seljuk Turks defeated the East Roman (Byzantine) army and paved the way for the Muslim conquest of once-Christian Anatolia. We pray that all Muslims may at last be converted to our divine Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and be baptized into His body, for the glory of God and their eternal salvation.
